Azeem graduated with a High 2.1 in Law and passed his Legal Practice Course with Distinction, both achieved at Nottingham Law School.
Qualifying as a solicitor under the Solicitors Regulation Authority in February 2024, Azeem’s passion lies in all elements of private client work, including the preparation of Wills and LPAs, administering estates, and providing tax advice.
Azeem joined Britton and Time in December 2024 as a solicitor specialising in private client matters.
2020
Azeem played an instrumental role in assisting with the administration of a high-value estate comprising multiple properties and a substantial investment portfolio. One of the key challenges was identifying and locating a missing beneficiary, which required meticulous investigation and collaboration with external agencies.
Azeem’s efforts ensured that the estate could be distributed fairly and in accordance with the deceased’s wishes. Additionally, he carefully managed the fluctuating stock market values of the investments, helping to preserve the estate’s value during volatile conditions.
2021
Azeem drafted a tailored Will for a high net-worth business owner, which integrated her business assets and foreign property into an estate plan designed to protect her wealth for her children, whilst mitigating her potential inheritance tax liability. This involved close collaboration with the client to understand her unique business and family dynamics.
2022
Azeem advised on a bespoke estate plan and drafted complex Wills for a blended family, which incorporated trusts to ensure that all parties, including stepchildren, were fairly provided for.
2023
Azeem assisted in a complex high net-worth intestacy that involved the variation of the rules of intestate succession to secure significant tax savings. His role involved technical expertise and sensitive communication with the beneficiaries, who were navigating a difficult time.
2024
Azeem managed the administration of an estate with assets in the UK and overseas, navigating cross-border legal and tax issues to ensure a swift distribution to beneficiaries.
2025
Administration of Estates:
Azeem advised on a multi‑jurisdictional estate involving assets in the UK and Jamaica, guiding the executor through complex succession and cross‑border issues and dealing with a beneficiary who intermeddled with estate funds.
Assisted in a probate dispute concerning misappropriated estate funds and drafted a deed of variation to protect the innocent beneficiaries’ interests.
Estate Planning:
Azeem also delivered estate planning advice to a high net worth client with a net worth of £2.2 million and considered their nil rate band, transferable nil rate band, residence nil rate band, business property relief and gifting rules.
Trusts:
Azeem prepared multiple bare trusts as part of clients’ inheritance tax mitigation strategies, including:
- gifting savings to grandchildren to reduce the settlor’s taxable estate; and
- placing a rental property on trust to preserve wealth and ensure future proceeds passed to specified members of the family.
Azeem also completed the dissolution of a discretionary trust originally established to protect a beneficiary from third party influence.
Azeem advised on and drafted a life interest trust Will for a couple who wished to protect their share of the main residence against third party interests.
Tailored Wills:
Azeem drafted a tailored Will for a client who had children under 18 from previous marriages and ensured the guardianship clause carefully looked after the children by an appropriate and trusted person of the client.
Azeem also drafted a bespoke Will for a blended family, incorporating tailored guardianship provisions to safeguard minor children.
Azeem drafted a Will and Letter of Wishes for a client choosing to exclude an adult child, providing guidance on mitigation strategies for potential Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 claims.
Azeem advised and helped on drafting a Will for clients with assets in the UK, France and Spain, addressing cross‑border succession issues and the application of the EU Succession Regulation (Brussels IV).
Azeem received instructions from an ultra-high-net-worth couple with a combined net worth exceeding £30 million to prepare their Wills and provide long-term succession structuring.
Azeem drafted tailored business succession clauses enabling clients to gift shares in their limited companies to their children, ensuring the shares and control remained within the family.
