Starting from July 2022, Britton and Time Solicitors are proud to announce that we will be supporting Chailey Heritage Foundation as our principal charity partner, with all proceeds from fundraising going directly to Chailey Heritage Foundation’s charitable causes.
Who are Chailey Heritage Foundation?
Based in Chailey, East Sussex, Chailey Heritage Foundation was established in 1903 by Lewes-born Grace Kimmins, a formidable lady who was passionate about supporting and helping children with disabilities, who at the time had limited access to a formal education.
Over time, the Foundation has grown to support and educate children and young adults aged from 3 to 25 with complex neurodisabilities, such as cerebral palsy, and assist them to maximise their independence and choice. The charity now stands at the leading edge of pioneering approaches and techniques to help young people achieve their individual potential.
Chailey Heritage Foundation works with children from across Sussex and the South East, and shares their campus with Chailey Clinical Services, an NHS facility, who are on hand to provide specialist care to the young people.
Sally-Anne Murray, Development Director at Chailey Heritage Foundation, said:
“We are excited about the benefits that the partnership with Britton and Time Solicitors will bring to our supporters. Gifts in wills are important to the charity and they help us to provide much needed services and facilities for the young people in our care.
Expert professional advice and guidance for supporters who are writing their wills will be a huge help and being able to offer this free of charge is fantastic for all concerned”
Our partnership.
Our initial partnership with Chailey Heritage Foundation will see us launch three main initiatives:
1. Fundraising activities and events in support of Chailey Heritage Foundation
2. Creating a year-round free will writing services for supporters of the Foundation
3. Working closely with Chailey Heritage Foundation to help build greater awareness of the Foundation and its cause
Of the partnership, Elisabeth Squires, Head of Private Client, said:
“Charitable gifts made through wills are one of the easiest ways people can support charities, and while many of the big names out there have long-established will writing schemes, local charities like Chailey Heritage Foundation, are amongst those charities who need funding the most.
With property values skyrocketing in the last few decades, many people are now sitting on hundreds of thousands of pounds of equity, a small percentage of which could not only be transformational for a local charity, but could also reduce any inheritance tax liable on your estate.
Rather than supporting national charities where in many cases, very little of the money you donate makes it through to the final cause, almost all of the money you donate through a legacy gift or otherwise to Chailey Heritage Foundation, goes to benefit the children they support.”
Background.
As a law firm, we have grown significantly since we first started developing our business at the start of 2020 and this could not have happened without the support of not only the local Sussex community, but charities like Chailey Heritage Foundation, who are the crossroads for local businesses and communities.
We owe our growth to not only the local Brighton and Hove community where our offices are based, but also to the smaller, and sometimes forgotten communities dotted across the whole of Sussex.
Chailey Heritage Foundation is a charity with a long history in the Sussex community, and it’s a privilege to us to be able to partner with an organisation which is so dedicated to its cause, and to be able to focus attention on a charity which, outside of Brighton, doesn’t always receive the praise it deserves.
Our Managing Director, Paul Britton, had this to say:
“We’re incredibly excited to begin our partnership with one of Sussex’s oldest and historic charities, and to help raise awareness for a cause that can sometimes be brushed to one side.
The young people supported by the team at Chailey Heritage Foundation require specialist services and equipment that are not only costly, but that can also only be funded through voluntary income from generous supporters and donors.
By helping Chailey Heritage Foundation to raise awareness in both Sussex and London, we hope to bring complex neurodisabilities to the forefront of the conversation, while supporting children who need help the most.”
