Approach.
As a family solicitor, I offer a warm yet no-nonsense approach to legal advice, interpreting the law in ways that make complex processes more accessible for my clients.
I recognise that every family case is unique, requiring tailored solutions rather than standardised approaches. My practice focuses primarily on financial settlements, divorce proceedings, and private child contact arrangements. I find particular fulfilment in handling Special Guardianship Orders, helping family members—often grandparents, aunts, or uncles—step into guardian roles when biological parents are unable to continue their responsibilities.
As a member of Resolution, I take a proactive approach to settling matters outside of court whenever possible. This includes drafting pre-nuptial agreements and cohabitation agreements to prevent future disputes, as well as facilitating Financial Consent Orders, Cohabitation Separation Agreements, and private arbitration in both child and financial cases.
Throughout what is inevitably a transformative period for my clients, I maintain complete transparency regarding fees and actively seek to minimise unnecessary costs, recognising the financial pressure that often accompanies family legal matters.
Yasmin’s passion for law began early, at age eight, after spending time with a family friend who was a partner at a leading Sussex law firm. Although she initially pursued a History degree, she was drawn back to law, completing her postgraduate studies in Dublin before returning to the UK to finish her training.
After graduating with a Law degree and earning a distinction in her Legal Practice Course (LPC) in Bristol, Yasmin completed her training contract in Bedfordshire. She qualified as a solicitor under the Solicitors Regulation Authority in 2001, initially specialising in Personal Injury and Employment Law.
During her training at a prominent firm in Luton, she gained valuable experience across multiple practice areas, including Family Law, Conveyancing, Personal Injury, Employment, and Civil Litigation. Shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic, Yasmin decided to add Family Law to her areas of specialisation.
Today, Yasmin is a Solicitor in the Family Team at Britton and Time, welcoming clients through our offices in both London and Hove.
2020
Yasmin helped a client divorce her husband and settle finances voluntarily through a Financial Consent Order after years of abuse, enabling the client to focus on her business venture with confidence that her existing and future assets would be protected.
She supported a father in securing regular contact with his children after contact was withheld following false allegations. By liaising with the unrepresented mother, Yasmin developed a mutually agreeable Parenting Plan, avoiding costly court proceedings.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Yasmin continued to serve clients remotely, maintaining these virtual options for clients across the UK, including London, Liverpool, and other regions.
2021
Yasmin represented a disabled client through Non-Molestation proceedings, divorce, and financial settlements, ultimately securing the sale of the former matrimonial home and purchase of a property to be adapted to her client’s specific needs.
She successfully expedited a child arrangement case by instructing an Independent Social Worker to obtain a Section 7 Report rather than waiting for CAFCASS, preventing a six-month delay in establishing father-child contact.
2022
Yasmin assisted a father in defending repeated applications in Child Arrangements proceedings where he had sole custody, successfully obtaining a ‘Barring Order’ against the mother, limiting her to indirect contact with the children.
She resolved a complex international financial matter for an ex-wife living in Spain while her ex-husband remained in the UK matrimonial home. Working through adult children as intermediaries, the client successfully sold her Spanish business, paid a reduced lump sum to her ex-husband, and purchased a new home in Spain.
Yasmin represented grandparents seeking a Special Guardianship Order for their maternal grandchildren, offering services at a fixed, capped fee rate.
2023
Yasmin acted for a client on a financial settlement matter who was initially reluctant to finalise settlement concerning a dispute over a wedding gift. She eventually convinced her client to put this matter aside, thereby avoiding the expense, stress, and time of court proceedings.
She advised a client on a Pre-Nuptial Agreement within a very tight deadline prior to her marriage.
Yasmin also advised a client who had no financial assets except for her business, with an estranged husband living abroad. She persuaded the client to seek commercial advice and address the matter before entering into a Financial Consent Order.
2024
Yasmin acted for a maternal uncle and aunt for a Special Guardianship Order, appearing before the Magistrates Court to make the application for guardianship of the children. She found this case particularly rewarding.
She finalised a financial settlement for a client who owned multiple properties, including buy-to-lets, which also addressed custody arrangements for the couple’s fish, dogs, and rabbits.
Yasmin drafted and finalised a Cohabitation Separation Agreement for a same-sex couple who lived in London, successfully conducting the entire matter remotely.
2025
Successfully resolved an Enforcement Application for an existing client to force sale of properties within a previous Financial Consent Order.
Settled matter of sale of Former Matrimonial Home for disabled client and drafted Financial Consent Order.
Advised grandparents who lived in Essex on a Special Guardianship Order who already had Orders in place for the other grandchildren.
